Hallo Axel, hallo Patrick!

I had the pleasure to visit the Tauch-Terminal Resort Tulamben a couple of month ago and have to admit that this is one of the nicest resorts I ever visited in Asia. Everything is well organized and diving there is both, fun and adventure: Fun, because one does not have to worry about equipment and logistics - simply walking to the dive site and having others carry my equipment is something I never experienced before (maybe partially because I always used to be the divemaster, tourleader or instructor :o) .... Adventure, because the dive sites are both - thrilling and amazing. The wreck night dive was one of the best nightdives I ever had! Mentioned should also be, that all rooms have double walls - Making this resort perhaps the only one in Bali where you won't hear every fart and burp of your beloved neighbour ;o> The restaurant menu is uniqely diverse and the food really good. One can stay at Tulamben for 2 weeks, not leaving the premises (except for diving) and don't miss a bit. THIS IS WHAT I CALL A RESORT!!! All the best to the Team and keep up the vibes! Cheers, Franky Gun

Hallo Axel!

Grüße an alle!

Hi Axel, Misa and Patrick,

I arrived back home save and sound.
Just wanted to say thank you for everything to all of you guys.
Even though my time at the Resort was pretty short, I enjoyed
it very much and I will definitely come back some day with my
girlfriend to just hang around and relax. Had a great time and
love your resort! The night dive at the wreck was the best
nightdive I ever had (keeping in mind, that I have over 3.000
dives in Asia under my belt).

All the best - and keep shaking that ass :o)

Cheers,

Bali, January 2000
My wife and I had visited Bali several times since 1991, but always in our way to or from another diving destinations in Indonesia, and had not dived there until January 2000. We decided to give it a try after reading about Bali in our "diving Bible", Kal Muller's "Diving Indonesia".
Through the Internet we contacted several Bali dive operations and decided to make reservations with Tauch Terminal to dive with you for one week. An itinerary covering all the best dive spots around the island was arranged, the first 4 days from the Le Meridien Nirwana Resort at Tanah Lot and the last 3 from Tauch Terminal’s own resort at Tulamben on the north coast. Tauch Terminal is run with German efficiency and we were very impressed with how professional and helpful you were even before we arrived. Your total price was very good for the level of service provided.
The first two days we dove Nusa Penida. The diving there was as good as described by Kal Muller and a lot better than we had expected. Herb and Jack chose times and places well and the currents were quite manageable. No real walls but steep slopes with excellent undamaged coral covering, clouds of tropicals, quite a few rare critters, turtles, schools of sleek unicorn fishes and batfishes, Napoleon wrasses , leaf, lion and scorpion fishes, tunas, quite a few morays and even one or two white tips in the distance. We didn’t see any mola-molas or whale sharks, but they have been sighted there.
Throughout the whole trip we had Jack, a great divemaster with lots of experience in Kalimantan and Bali, as a personal guide for the three of us. He had an incredible eye for leaf fishes, nudibranchs and all kinds of rare marine life.
We had another great 2 boat dives at Nusa Menjanggan where Jack showed us a spot with the two largest frog fishes we have ever seen -soccer ball size- and four leaf fishes together in different colors.
The USS Liberty at Tulamben has to be one of the best wreck dives in the Pacific from the point of view of variety, size and approachability of marine life. It is definitely the best shore-entry wreck dive we have ever seen. The “beach” is formed of smooth black pebbles and stones, hard on the feet with only diving booties, although the little old ladies that have exclusive rights to carry -on their heads-- the tanks and diving gear from the resorts to the dive site, didn’t seem to have any trouble walking on them barefooted and sometimes carrying two tanks!
Tulamben has 3 dive sites; the Wreck --lying between thirty and one hundred feet, broken down and allowing easy penetrations--, the Gardens and the Wall, about half a kilometer down the beach. All of them were teeming with marine life, extremely tame. We got some of our best close up video ever of fishes that had always been frustratingly unapproachable. Even some great footage of a blue ribbon eel next to a huge anemone trying to catch some juvenile anemone fishes while their parents kept trying to repel it. My daughter had great fun playing with friendly giant cuttle fishes, shy octopi and cunning mantis shrimps. There was unlimited shore diving and the wreck alone merits several. Although it may became somewhat crowded during high season, we only saw a few other divers day in early January.
Tauch Terminal’s resort was comfortable and beautifully landscaped. We stayed on quaint, traditionally decorated adjacent bungalows with large baths with showers. The food at the restaurant was very good. The dive shop is well equipped and has good, reliable, rental gear.
After two days we continued around the island to Candi Dasa on the east coast where we had another two great dives --one in a current swept wall where we visited a sleeping shark cave and another at a pinnacle where we swam with 7-8 white tips and reef sharks
Altogether we found the diving in Bali surprisingly good for a place that’s not considered a prime dive destination. Tauch Terminal is a very professional operation with excellent personnel and competitive prices and you delivered on everything you had promised us. We have highly recommended you in a review to Undercurent and we shall certainly include some days of diving the next time we pass through Bali. The eighteen dives we did there just whetted our appetite.
Thank you Axel and the Yauch Terminal Clan
